One Seed Vs. Bottom Seed: Notre Dame vs. Texas A&M

This game was about as ugly as the weather was in South Bend. Not known for the South Beach conditions, South Bend gave us moderate to heavy rain, 40 degree temperatures, and a brisk breeze. At the end of the first, it looked like Johnny Football was carve his way through the Notre Dame defense that buckled inside the 25. A&M was able to chip 3 Taylor Bertolet field goals in the first quarter and a half of play before Notre Dame decided to wake up on defense. After a Tyler Eifert 28 yard TD snag just before the half, Notre Dame was able to close the gap to two at the half. In the second half it was the Cierre Wood Show. Wood put up 137 yards on the ground and fun the end-zone early in the third. Notre Dame never looked back.

Final score: ND 20 - A&M 9

Key Stats
- ND was able to carve up 203 yards on the ground.
- Manziel was held to less than 200 yards in the air and on the ground and threw two picks.
- 15 punts. ND won the field position battle in the second half.

Notre Dame moves on to host the winner of Tulsa vs. Wisconsin
