No. 2 Bama vs. No 15 Florida

After Notre Dame opened with an ugly win I knew that we would be in for another defensive battle with Florida and Bama on the horizon. And that battle was exactly what we got.

This game which would be considered bad football from the Big 12 and Pac 12 fans of the world was a fantastic display of SEC speed and defense. On a beautiful 70 degree late afternoon in TTown, what else could we ask for. Just as the game ended, the showers begun.

For a large part the Bama run game which ravished the UGA front was held in check by a stout Florida front seven. Bama opened the game with a long long and mean long time grinding drive which ended with a Jeremy Shelley 27 yard field goal. Bama again was able to chew up more and more clock with the Florida offense unable to get anything going. With just under 2 minutes to go in the second quarter Bama was staring at a 13-0 lead after a 18 TJ Yeldon run up the gut of the defense. The only saving grace for Florida was Driskell put enough together to have the Gators within 10 with a Caleb Sturgis 45 yard as time expired at the half.

Muschamp really got his defense going in the second. Bama was held to 50 yards after the break. After another 45 yard field goal from Caleb Sturgis with only 5:52 to go, Bama had to put together a drive of all drives to seal the game. McCarron led Bama on a 4 and half minute drive with Jeremy Shelley booting a 26 yarder with 45 seconds to go to seal the game for King Saban.

Key Stats:

- Florida was held to 3-18 on 3rd downs
- Bama had 7, yes 7 sacks
- Shelley was a perfect 3-3 in field goals

Bama gets the winner of Northern Illinois and Boise State up next. Don't get soft, we have Kansas State vs Oregon from America's Small Town next.
