This ballgame wasn't even close

First Half
- Bowling Green scores on their first 5 possession going up 31-7  by the end of the half
The Falcons were the beneficiaries of 3 first half scores from Travis Green (2 on the ground and 76 yard punt return TD)
- The only highlight for Rice was a second quarter drive that ended with a 7 yard scamper from Darik Dillard

Third Quarter
The only scoring we saw came on a Jawon Davis 10 yard sprint right for the Rice Owls
The quarter came to a close with with the Falcons still holding a 31-14 lead

Fourth Quarter
Once again it was all Bowling Green.

The Falcons ripped off three touchdowns as they piled it on the Conference USA Champion Rice Owls
Bowling received two scoring runs from Travis Green, one from 35 yards out, the other from 42 yards.
Alex Baer hauled in a Matt Johnson TD pass with just over 3 minutes to go so

FINAL: BOWLING GREEN 52 - RICE 14

The Statline

- Rice had 359 rushing yards, but was held to 2 scores. 2 missed field goals and 3 red zone turnovers responsible for this
- Travis Green had 5 touchdowns, and 189 yards on the ground #stud

#WFPPlayoff Round One No. 7 Fresno State vs No. 10 Ragin Cajuns

on a hazy 44 degree day at Bulldog Stadium

What a tremendous game it was

First Quarter
It was all Bulldogs in the first quarter. The defense mauled and the offense grinded out to a Fresno 3-0 lead behind a 40 yarder from the toe of Colin McGuire

Second Quarter
Here's where the stalemate began to give
- After forcing a a three and out Fresno State marched down the field on the 78 yard drive, taking 6 minutes off the clock, and ending in a 1 yard plunge from Josh Quezada putting Fresno up 10-0
- After another defensive stop, Fresno marches right back down and gets a 35 yarder from McGuire this time around putting the Bulldogs up 13-0 with just over a minute left in the half
- The Ragin Cajuns run hurry up and put themselves in good enough position to close out the half with a 34 yarder from Stephen Brauchle
Halftime: Fresno State 13 - Louisiana Lafayette 3

Third Quarter
This quarter was all Ragin Cajuns
- Louisiana Lafayette fielded the opening kick off of the half and marched 96 yards on a Alonzo Harris sprint right after a muffed kickoff return. The extra point from Brauchle made it Fresno State 13-10
- After stopping the Bulldogs in their own territory, the Ragin Cajuns took over from their own 12 yardline and drove it 88 yards, milking over 7 minutes off he clock. Torrey Pierce scored from 11 yards out on an inside zone left putting the Cajuns up 17-13

Fourth Quarter
Here's where the game got all sorts of fun
After forcing yet another defensive stop, the Ragin Cajuns use the last 4 minutes in the third and 2 minutes in the fourth to carry out a TD drive which ended when Terrence Broadway found Jamal Robinson on a 17 yard post in the middle of the endzone. this put ULL up 24-13
- Fresno State took the next drive to the ULL 45 before forced to punt
- The Ragin Cajuns do absolutely nothing with the next drive and shank the punt right back to Fresno who returns the favor and does absolutely nothing with the next drive
- The Cajuns had everything go right into their favor on the next drive, but are forced to settle for 41 yarder from Brauchle putting The Cajuns up 27-13
- FINALLY THE FRESNO O COMES BACK TO LIFE AND CARR LAUNCHES A 61 YARD STRIKE TO MARCEL JENSEN TO PUT FRESNO ONLY DOWN 27-20 WITH 5 MINUTES TO GO
- ULL goes three and out and punts the ball back to Fresno with only 3:21 to play
- Fresno runs hurry up, drives 54 yards and ties the ballgame at 27 on a Quezada one yard plunge up the middle and McGuire extra point with 1:21 to go
- ULL field the kickoff and then fumbles on the first play of the drive giving it right back to the hot Bulldogs
- The Bulldogs strike from 28 yards out on a pass from Carr to Josh Harper with 13 seconds to go sealing the games fate
FINAL: FRESNO WINS OVER ULL 31-24

We have a our first spouts of precipitation: rain showers, breezy at 61 degrees at kickoff

First Quarter
- Opening Drive: Bama marches down the field only to be stopped at the 20. Bama settles for a 37 yard filed goal from Cade Foster Bama 3-0
- Bama forces a Golden Kinights 3 and out and gets right back to business. This time the drive ends with a 8 yard fade to Amari Cooper from McCarron Bama up 10-0
- The Golden Knights go hurry up and finally get some points on the board, with a 29 yard chip shot field goal from Shawn Moffit still Bama 10-3
- Welp, Saban must have chewed out his offense for not being as dominant, and Bama drives 85 yards (all on the ground), finishing with a Kenyan Drake 9 yard plunge to go up 17-3  at the end of the quarter

Second Quarter
-  Like I said, Saban must have chewed out the whole team, because the Bama defense forces another 3 and out, to which the offense takes full advantage of. The next Bama drive finishes on a 4 yard quick slant to DeAndrew White from McCarron putting the Tide up by three TDs 24-3
- UCF finally finds their run game, that's carried them this season and Storm "Great Name for a Running Back" Johnson find the right pylon on a 10 yard scamper putting the Knights only down two scores 24-10
- Bama goes hurry up the next two drives and gets two scores, starting with a 2 yard plunge from TJ Yeldon and then a 34 yarder from Cade Foster after forcing a Blake Bortles INT in UCF's territory
Bama leads at the half 34-10

Third Quarter
Both teams post drives this quarter but no scores occured. It looked like a wonderful B1G game where all drives ended in punts

Fourth Quarter
Finally scoring happens, a Bama drive ends with a TJ Yeldon 39 yard sprint, putting the Bama starters on the bench for the rest of the game and the game well out of reach Bama 41-10
The Central Knights get two gimme scores as the Bammer nation watches their 2s and 3s get PT

FINAL: BAMA 41 UCF 25

The Numbers:
Yeldon: 189 yards on the ground and two scores
McCarron: 352 yards through the air with a pair of scores
UCF: held to 269 total yards

First Quarter
After stopping the Bears on a three and out, Sakerlina rips off 6 minute drive that ends with Mike Davis hauling a 5 yard out from Connor Shaw Sakerlina 7-0

Second Quarter
There were a few back and forth drives then Sakerlina took advantage of a short field after a shanked punt. Mike Davis sprinted from 16 yards out putting the  Gamecocks up 14-0 heading into the half

Third Quarter
The Bears were the only squad to put points on the board in the third after Levi Norwood hauled in a 10 yarder from Bryce Petty. Baylor edges closer 14-7

Fourth Quarter
In the fourth quarter, these teams decided to score a few times
Sakerlina had a beautiful drive, that knocked 7 minutes off of the clock. This drive ended with Bruce Ellington nabbing a 21 yard strike from the arm of Shaw putting the Cocks up 21-7
Baylor quickly responded with a Clay Fuller foot race after receiving a swing pass from Petty. Fuller scored from 33 yards out closing the game to Sakerlina 21-14
After failing to recover an onside kick, Sakerlina sealed up the game with a 42 yarder from elliot Fry with less than a minute to go

Final Sakerlina 24 - Baylor 14

The Numbers:
Baylor held to 67 yards on the ground with 41 total carris: yeeesh
Sakerlina rushed for 200 yards, and were led by Mike Davis who got 135 on the ground
Bryce Petty nearly eclipsed the 300 yard mark through the air after finishing with 299
Sakerlina had 6.5 sacks including 4 from Kelcy Quarles

Sakerlina gives us our first upset of the Playoffs

Belk Bowl Preview: Cincinnati Offense Preview

Cincinnati in their opening year with Tommy Tuberville at the helm had a surprisingly successful first season at 9-3. After losing Munchie Legeaux early, Cincinnati was forced to start Brendan Kay, a fifth year senior, and found some success, including a 6 game winning streak. Tommy T has a pretty predictable playcalling formula out of the spread, that loves to get their hands in their playmakers. The offense has been designed to get players in space, loves to get blockers down field off of screen plays and uses the run from the spread to set up the play action pass over the top.

The Backfield
QB - Brendan Kay (#11) - Senior - A fifth year senior who has stepped up big time to fill in for the injured Munchie Legeaux. Kay provides a strong arm to the fifteenth most prolific passing attack in the country, throwing 69% completion for over 3100 yards, for 22 TDs. They like to run him in the red zone as well, having scored half a dozen on the ground. When he has time, like he did during portions of the Louisville game, he can pick you apart. He also likes to dump it to backs out of the backfield. Our Linebackers will have to stay home and make the correct reads in the passing game
RB by committee:
Hosey Williams 5-10 200 lb (#23) Junior - Runs much bigger than his size. He averages close to 6 yards a carry. Leads the committee with the most rushing yards of the bunch. Has been banged up the second half of the season
Ralph Abernathy 5-7 161 (#1) Junior - (theit main guy) Smallish but gets the most touches out of anyone in this offense. Has elite speed and is a big threat in space. Hides very well behind the offensive line. The only threat in the passing game out of the backfield. 1st team all conference
Tion Green 6-0 220 lb (#7) Soph - the Bruiser of the backfield. The most TDs on the ground out of the bunch. He's a strong in between the tackles runner who lays the effin wood. (the second guy currently in the rotation)
Jared Golden - Fullback 6-1 240 (#42) Soph: has a few catches. mainly used as a lead blocker and sealing the edge in the run and max protection game

The Receivers
This section will highlight their passing game which is full of flash fakes and play action passes that are used to create hesitation and do get the front seven to bite. This passing offense has been finely tuned since the likes of Brian Kelly worked there. They're very fluid in their passing routes and carry out their fakes. This passing attack is designed to create confusion and mismatches. It's imperative that all eleven on defense keeps the offense in front of them and does not get sucked into the play fakes.
Starters:
Anthony McClung (#6) 6-0 180, straight burner - the leading receiver for the Bearcats, despite half of the year in the backup role is in my opinion the biggest threat to the Carolina secondary. He reminds me of the Miami receivers who were able to get behind our secondary with ease. 2nd team all conference
Chris Moore (#15) 6-1 190 - has the third most receiving yards on the team.Has played very well down the stretch with big games against Rutgers, Houston and Louisville. Their biggest scoring threat through the air
Shaq Washington (#19) 5-9 175 Has only found the end zone once this year but gets yards up in chunks.
Blake Annen (#86) 6-5 250 TE - Really didn't put much on the board in the second half of the year. Is used in the run game as a lead blocker and backside sealer. 1st team all conference
Backups
Mekale McKay (#2) 6-6 195 - A big bodied big play receiver who averages close to 31 yards a reception. Big scoring threat as well.
Max Morrison (#82) 6-1 175 - had much better numbers at the beginning of the year

The O Line
This group paved the way for over 2000 yards on the ground and close to 3800 yards through the air The group is led by three junior/seniors but have underclassmen who have stepped up in starting roles

Left Tackle - Eric Lefeld (#71) 6-6 310 Junior - 1st team all conference left tackle is a mammoth. Will be a top 10 tackle taken when he decides to head to the pros. He's a stud
Left Guard - Austen Bujnoch (#76) 6-5 290 Senior - Played at Cinci forever.
Center- Deyshawn Bond (#59) Freshman - First year starter who has held his own.
Right Guard - Sam Longo (#60) 6-5 305 - The second team all conference guard mauls in the run game. watch for the Beacats to run right off his block
Right Tackle - Parker Ehringer (#78) 6-7 292 Soph. - Ehringer is a very raw talent who still has alot to work on.

Our defense must zone in on stopping he run first and foremost. Make this offense one dimensional and force them into throws. Cincinnati beat up on inferior squads this year but lost to decent competition (similar to Carolina). I'm gonna watch their game against South Florida tonight, with an sharpened eye on the defense, to see which ways the Tar Heel O can exploit.

Ohio State finally forces a Jameis Winston mistake leading to a Doran Grant pick 6 14-7 FSU

Second Quarter:
Here's where the game gets a away from the Buckeyes
FSU scores 3 straight scores racking up a 31-7 FSU lead off of a 45 yarder from Roberto Aguayo, a rushing score from 4 yards out from Freeman and 18 yard scamper from Karlos Williams
Ohio State finally responds with a 8 yard haul from Braxton Miller to Evan Spencer to cut the lead to 31-14 FSU  with 51 seconds left in the half
Karlos Williams rips off a 67 yard sprint off of a pitch right to put the Noles up 38-14 with 12 seconds before halftime

Third Quarter:
Ohio State finally decides to play some defense and put up a couple scores of their own, closing the gap off of a 8 yard Braxton Miller score and 33 yarder from Kicker Drew Basilc Noles 38-24

Fourth Quarter
Karlos Williams goes off once again and strikes from 51 yards off a good ol inside zone 45-24 FSU
Florida State calls the dogs off and Ohio State gets a 16 yard TD run from Carlos Hyde with a minute to go

YOUR FINAL: Florida State 45 Ohio State 31

Stat Line
- Jameis Winston was 24-31 with 342 passing yards and a 3-1 TD-INT ratio
- Braxton Miller was 14-21 for 171 yard, a TD score on the ground and through the air, with 78 yards on the ground
- FSU had 2 100 yard rushers between Davonta Freeman and Karlos Williams, Ohio State was led by Carlos Hyde who had 162 yards on 22 carries
- Florida State was 14/18 on Third Down (WOW)
- Neither defense really posed a threat (2 total sacks, one for each team and one turnover)

The Tallahassee Crowd went home happy and Florida State lives for another day. The Buckeye fan base ends this year on a two game losing streak after playing two strong teams

Tajh Boyd scrambles from 5 yards out to put the Clemson Tigers up 17-7
Cody Parker responds with a 41 yard chip shot as time expires in the second to cut the Clemson lead to 17-10

Auburn kicks 4 field goals this quarter. 4.
Auburn leads after 3 22-17

Fourth Quarter
Tajh Boyd works up some magic of his own, leading his Clemson Tigers on a couple scoring drives with another Costanzzo 48 yarder and finds Sammy Watkins streaking up the sideline on a 56 yard catch and score
With less than 4 minuts left Clemson found themselves up 27-22
Then Nick Marshall and Tre Mason and the Auburn Offensive Line start to mash
Mason scores off tackle with 36 seconds to play from 8 yards out. Auburn holds on once again in miraculous fashion

FINAL SCORE: AUBURN 29 CLEMSON 27

Stat Line
- Tre Mason went off with 274 yards on 34 carries and couple of scores
- Cody Parker of Auburn had the golden toe converting on all five field goals
- Auburn wins another game they shouldn't
- Clemson lost despite converting 31 first downs
- Yabo Dabo Doo still has too much love for his ball club
- Auburn had 8 sacks

This first quarter made me salivate. All we saw was smash mouth football, offenses struggling to move the ball, and defenses flying around making plays.
Stanford did emerge with points on their final drive of the quarter with a 33 yard chip shot filed goal from Jordan Williamson Stanford 3-0

Second Quarter:
Stanford got another stop and marched down the field before getting stalled again. Stanford settled for another Williamson field goal Stanford 6-0
On the next drive Oklahoma finally gets on the board with a Mike Hunicutt 39 yard field goal cutting the Stanford lead to 6-3
Stanford responds with a a man ball special 18 yard drive, 84 yards, knocking 7 minutes of the clock concluding with a 1 yard plunge right up the gut from Tyler Gaffney Stanford 13-3
Oklahoma runs hurry up their final two drives of the half and nabs a couple field goals cutting the lead to Stanford 13-9

Second Half:
I grouped this one together because this half was all Stanford
Stanford outscored Oklahoma 35-0
Tyler Gaffney was a monster scoring 3 touchdowns. Hogan threw a pair through the air.
The defense held Oklahoma to 25 yards in the second half.
This was MASHING in its finest form

FINAL: STANFORD 48 OKLAHOMA 9

Stat Line:
Stanford had 357 rushing yards on 57 carries, MY GOD.
Tyler Gaffney: 33 carries 161 yards 4 touchdowns /salivates
Anthony Wilkerson: 10 carries 142 yards on the ground
Stanford Defense: 7 sacks, 3 INTs, gave up 201 total yards /faints

Michigan State vs Mizzou next.......

First Quarter:
Mizzou got to the scoring first, capitalizing a on a sound drive with a 38 yard Andrew Baggett field goal  Mizzou 3-0
Sparty responded with a 76 yard drive, finishing with a Bennie Fowler touchdown reception from Connor Cook  Sparty 7-3

Second Quarter:
Bennie Fowler found the end zone once again, hauling in a 4 yard fade from Cook Sparty 14-3
Mizzou finally gets something going and Henry Josey finds the endzone on a 18 yard end around Sparty 14-10
On the drive that followed Sparty couldn't be stopped through the air, Cook chucks another strike, finding Andrew Gleichert on a 5 yard quick slant Sparty 21-10

Third Quarter:
Mizzou nabbed a three spot on their first drive of the second half with a 30 yarder from Baggett
Sparty however responded with a 7 spot behind the legs of Jeremy Langford Sparty 28-13
Mizzou goes on a Stanford esque drive to follow, ending with a touchdown and milking over seven minutes off the clock. L'Damian Washington makes a circus catch to score Sparty 28-20

Fourth Quarter:
The next three drives were all Sparty. 2 drives ended in Connor Cook rushing touchdowns. One drive ended in a Mizzou Turnover. Sparty takes a 42-20 lead  with 4:30 to go
Mizzou nabs a gimme score with under a minute to go, failing to convert for two

FINAL: SPARTY 42 MIZZOU 26

Stat Line:
Sparty had 370 rushing yards including 304 from Jeremy Langford
Connor Cook's line: 18-35 209 yards, 5 total touchdowns
Both teams combined for over 600 yards rushing (LOL FRONT SEVENS)
Sparty had the ball for over 38 minutes
Sparty converted 14/16 third downs, 12 of those came on the ground /salivates
