No 5 #FSU vs No 13 #UGA #WFPPlayoff

Welp, This game at the beginning of the year could have screamed National Championship potential....instead we get it in the 2nd round of our playoff.

This game to me looked like it was gonna be all UGA after the scare they gave Bama in Atlanta, but FSU does find a way to scrum things together at home.

Through half time its looked like UGA all the way. UGA had the ball for more than 20 minutes in the first half. Wow. However they were only able to punch it into the end zone once. A pair of Marshall Morgan field goals put the Dawgs up 13-3 at the break.

In a very non #GoACC moment. The FSU defense put it back together and shut Georgia down in the second half. The dynamic North Carolinian running back duo for UGA rushed for only 17 yards in the second half after racking up 123 in the first. Aaron Murray ran for his life in the last half and was sacked 5 times.

Unbelievable but Manuel found a way to win the game with a pair of TD passes including one in the final 2 minutes. FSU does the ACC proud. 17-13

No 1 #NotreDame vs No 9 #Wisconsin #WFPPlayoff

Last night I simulated the 1 vs 9 match up and the 5 vs 13 ball game.

The first game was on 29 degree night game from South Bend.

At first it looked like it was gonna be ALL Notre Dame. The Irish put up an impressive  89 yard first drive that almost milked 8 minutes off the clock. The drive ended with a 7 yard Theo Riddick plunge right into the thick of the Wisconsin defensive. Wisconsin, without BIRT BIRRLURMUR at the helm, responded with a 6 minute drive of their own ending with Montee Ball ramblin, ramlin and ramblin into the Endzone. We didn't see any scoring until late in the third with an electric 43 scamper from Mr Golson of Notre Dame. Notre Dame headed into the fourth looking promising until a Golson pick 6.

Wisconsin had the Mo, and his last name is Ball. After forcing Notre Dame to a three and out Wisconsin took over the ball on their own 24 with 12:36 to go. The next drive was one that would make any former or current offensive lineman drool. 14 plays. 76 yards. 7:03 off the clock. 1 yard Montee Ball right up the middle.

Notre Dame get the ball back and despite all of the success they've had this year in late game heroics (Kudos, BTW) they didn't have enough to pull this one out. They had another chance after Wisconsin punted the ball right back to them after going three and out. ND went 18 yards and time expired. The Badger pulled it out.

Final - Wisconsin 21 ND 14

Key Stats

Montee Ball had 40 touches for 180 yards. HOSS.
Te'o had 2 tackles. WHAT?! The video game did not give him justice.
19 punts. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much crap as I gave the B1G, Wiscy is still alive.

UGA vs FSU coming up next

No 8 #Tulsa vs No 9 #Wisconsin #WFPPlayoff

Our last game of the first round was certainly enjoyable. As I slept I missed a back and forth game between the best that Conference USA had to offer and the best eligible team that the B1G could put forth for the post season. This game was the tale of two halves.

Going into the break Tulsa had taken a commanding 10-0 lead (huge leads in the B1G) behind a steady dose of Trey Watts and Alex Singleton in the backfield. Singleton finally found the end zone with just over 3 minutes remaining in the first half on a 21 yard off tackle rumble.

Wisconsin, which couldn't be stopped in Indy a couple weeks ago looked to be suffering from the loss of Bielema who jumped ship to Ar-Kansas. Something lit a fire in Montee Ball's belly in the second half. On Wisconsin's first three possessions of the new half Montee Ball found the End Zone with a pair of 1 yard leaps over the pile and 46 yard rumble up the right sideline. Tulsa answered in the 4th with a pair of field goals to put them within striing distance. Despite stout defensive play from the Golden Hurricane in the final quarter, the offense was not able to cross the 50 in the final 6 minutes. Wiscy 21-16

Wiscy moves on to face Notre Dame in South Bend. If they can continue to control the LOS, they maybe a tougher out than I originally thought.

Key Stats

- Both squads rushed for over 200 yards
- Wiscy dominated TOP with 37:23
- No turnovers. Both teams took care of the ball

The first round is in the books y'all.

ND vs Wiscy up next.

No. 7 #NorthernIllinois vs No 10 #TheSmurfs

Last night, while I slept, this game simulated live from DeKalb Illinois where it was a warm 19 degrees with a brisk wind. These conditions on paper should affect two teams who are used to playing in the frozen tundra. What we got was a look at this years BCS buster vs a BCS buster of the past. What we also got was our first big come from behind win as well as our first Overtime game in the WFPPlayoff.

With just over twelve minute to go it looked like Northern Illinois had a certain victory. They had held a stagnant Boise State team to 119 total yards and a dismal 3 points. Joe Southwick looked miserable taking 4 sacks and tossing three picks through their first 7 drives. He and Pederson needed a little Boise State magic of yesteryear to give the Smurf Kingdom a sniff at winning. The Next 5 possessions sealed the fate of the Northern Illinois Huskies. First Boise State led a 5 minute grueling drive and had Michael Frisina chip a 35 yarder to put them within a touchdown 13-6. After a Northern Illinois 3 and out Boise State had one final 4th quarter drive to tie the ball game. With 2:30 to go and a short field after a shanked punt, Boise State milked the clock. They finally went over the hurdle with a 27 yard touchdown rumble up the middle from sixth-year senior DJ Harper. The story book tale continued after a missed 44 yard field goal from the Huskies in OT. DJ Harper scored from 23 yards out on a jet screen, caping the Smurfs comeback victory 19-13 in Dekalb.

Boise State moves on to face Alabama in TTown up next.

Our final first round game between Tulsa and Wiscy will be played this evening.

Stay tuned.

No 6 #Louisville vs No 11 #UtahState #WFPPlayoff

GUYS. I REALLY WISH I WERE KIDDING ABOUT THE NEXT GAME BUT I'M NOT.

All you need to know is Utah State was up 34-0 at the half. Seriously, I wish I were joking. Louisville was down by 34 at home, and was playing as shitty as the weather; 33 degrees and medium wind. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Big East.

Teddy Bridgewater finished the game like a lame duck that what shot 4 times in the sky.
His final stat line is as follows
(-)11 yards yards rushing
9-39 passing for 148 yards and 3 INTs
Woof.

Utah State went off tonight with 229 yards from Kerwynn Williams including 3 scores
Their defense posted 5 sacks and forced 5 turnovers.

An overall ugly game and terrible way for the Big East to end their season. Utah State gets the W 44-13.

Utah State moves on to face Kansas State in Manhattan next. Kudos to the Aggies.
